Francois & Aline du Toit are serving with Iris Ministries in Pemba, Mozambique since May 2011.
I (Francois) grew up in Pretoria, South Africa graduating with a degree in Information Technology in 2006. After I surrendered my life to Jesus in 2004, I sought out His purpose for my life. I felt like He told me that I was to be a missionary. In 2007 I joined Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Worcester, South Africa and served in YWAM until the end of 2009. During that time, I was staff member with two Discipleship Training Schools (DTS) and I led a pioneering school called the Supernatural DTS in Pretoria 2009. I also was a student in the Bible Core Course.
I (Aline) grew up in Braganca, Para in the north of Brazil. I got called by God in my last year of High School when I was 16 years old. I graduated High School and went straight into missions first of all for training. I joined Missao Horizontes (a missions training center in Brazil) in 2004. In 2005 I lead a team of missionaries in Argentina for one year (we served the local churches doing evangelism, discipleship and teaching specially to non-christians and new christians). In 2006 I joined Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Brazil and served the children of a 'favela' close to the base, until December 2007, early that year God had spoken clearly and specifically about serving in Mozambique, but He also added that before Mozambique I was to go to South Africa. So, in 2008 January I arrived in Worcester, South Africa to serve at the YWAM base. During my time there I did Family Ministries School, staffed a DTS, worked with children in a township and was part of the Intercession team. In the June 2009 I joined Francois and the pioneering team of the first Supernatural DTS in Pretoria, South Africa.
In March of 2010 we got married and in October 2010 we attended the Harvest School of Missions in Pemba, Mozambique. While there, God spoke to us that we were to stay on in Pemba and serve Him there.
Currently Francois is serving as Transport Coordinator and Bible School staff member. The Bible School disciples over 400 Mozambican students annually. He is passionate about teaching and enjoys ministering to leaders of the Mozambican church. He is also involved in helping oversee construction of district churches in the province.
Aline is serving as an overseer over the girls in the Iris Children Center. This year (2014) there are 25 girls living in the center. The girls are divided into different age groups. Each house has got a Mozambican 'aunty' staying and taking care of the girls in the house. Aline directly oversees the older teenage girls, and weekly disciples all the 'aunties' who take care of the girls in a more direct way. She believes that impacting, teaching and discipling the 'aunties' will make a much greater difference in the lives of the girls as Mozambican mamas who know the Lord and have a true relationship with Him.
